AI chats on business websites attract as many promises as warnings these days. Some sell them as a salesperson who never sleeps, others warn of a bot that makes things up and annoys customers. The truth lives in the specifics. We have it easier than most: an AI chat has been working in the corner of this site for months, answering questions about our services and collecting enquiries. This post is an honest summary: what the tool does well, what the cost really consists of, and in which situations even we advise against it.
What an AI chat really does on a business website
A well-implemented chat does four things you can measure:
- It answers questions about your services in plain language, around the clock. The customer does not dig through subpages or wait until morning for an e-mail. They ask the way they would ask a person and get an answer based on knowledge about the company: scope of services, indicative prices, opening hours, directions.
- It collects enquiries, also after hours. When a conversation turns concrete, the chat can take contact details and pass them to the company. In the morning a ready lead is waiting instead of a lost visit.
- It takes repetitive questions off your plate. The same three questions asked daily over the phone can eat an hour of work. The chat answers them just as patiently every single time.
- It guides people around the site. Instead of making visitors search, it hands them the link to the right subpage, price list or contact form.
Here is what an exchange looks like, straight from the chat window:

Specific numbers, a link to the right subpage and a contact form right in the conversation. And you can try it right now: a chat like this works in the corner of this page.
This is not the chatbot from a decade ago
Many companies carry bad memories of bots that only understood a click on one of three buttons and replied "I do not understand" to any question asked in your own words. Today's chats built on language models understand normal, human questions, including ones typed with typos, in dialect, or at 11:40 pm.
There is a flip side, though: a language model without knowledge of the company can make things up. That is why an implementation is not "pasting in a widget" but groundwork: the chat gets an organised knowledge base about the company, clear boundaries of what it talks about, and supervision of answer quality. It is the same principle we described with structured data: machines are exactly as good as the facts you hand them.
What makes up the cost, and where the market hides the catch
The price of an AI chat consists of four parts: preparing the company knowledge base, the language engine, integration with the site (look and feel, consents, contact forms) and maintenance, meaning keeping the knowledge current and watching the quality of conversations. On the Polish market the typical range is a few thousand zlotys for implementation and from a few hundred zlotys per month for maintenance.
And here is the catch that is rarely said out loud: with many providers the tool fee is not everything. On top of it comes a separate bill for the very use of the AI model, charged by the volume of conversations. In practice this means the company opens an account with a foreign AI provider, attaches a card, receives a second invoice in dollars and polices the limits on its own. The better the chat works and the more people use it, the higher the bill - hard to imagine a worse mechanism for someone who wants predictable costs.
How we do it: a subscription with no meters
Our rule is simple: one flat monthly fee with everything in it. The AI engine, maintenance, fixes and updates to the knowledge about your offer. You do not open any accounts with AI providers, you do not attach a card abroad, you do not receive a second invoice for "usage" and you do not check every month how much the chat has "talked". Settlements with technology providers are on our side; you know your cost up front.
The second thing that sets us apart: we do not tie your chat to a single AI model. The model market changes every few months; today's best choice may be second best in half a year. So we match the engine to the specific company: the quality of the language, the nature of questions in the industry, response speed and the cost per conversation. And when something better appears, we swap the engine on our side, with no rebuild of the chat and no involvement needed from you. Your chat does not age together with one provider.
Third: the chat's knowledge lives together with the site. If we run your website, changes to your offer reach both the site and the chat as part of the same care. The chat, the site and the content speak with one voice, because one company looks after them. And if your site comes from elsewhere, we can implement the chat too - we then start by checking whether there is something solid to base it on.
And the legal housekeeping: we handle conversations in commercial services where company data does not feed public models. The chat collects only the data needed to make contact, with the visitor's consent, and the implementation includes the right entries in the site's privacy policy.
When an AI chat is not worth it
Honestly: we advise against it more often than a salesperson should. An AI chat makes no sense when:
- The site has almost no traffic. The chat talks to people who have already arrived. It will not bring visitors - that is what SEO and a good site are for. First traffic, then conversations.
- The company has no organised offer and content. If the facts are not on the site, the chat has nothing to learn from. We then start with the content, not the widget.
- The expectation is "it will replace my employee". It will not. It takes over first contact and repetitive questions, but decisions, quotes and difficult conversations stay with people.
- The whole business is one service and a phone. If customers always call anyway and the offer fits in one sentence, the chat will be an ornament.
Test it instead of taking our word
The best part of this post is that you do not have to believe us. Our chat works in the corner of this site: ask it about our services, about this very topic, about anything in this field. See how it holds a conversation and how it closes the contact - it would work exactly the same for you, on the knowledge about your company.
