← Back to blog A website with AI - integrations that work

The phrase "a website with AI" is having quite a career in 2026, and that is exactly why it needs a correction. Two completely different things are sold under the same banner: a site generated by a wizard in five minutes, and a site built by people, on which AI does concrete, measurable work. The first tempts with price. The second brings customers. It is worth knowing which one somebody is trying to sell you.

The two meanings of "a website with AI"

Meaning one: a website generated by AI. A wizard asks about your industry and colours, then assembles a ready-made template with filler text. The result appears in minutes and can look surprisingly decent at first glance.

Meaning two: a website with AI integrations. A custom project built for a specific business, where artificial intelligence is a working tool: it talks to customers, handles enquiries, supports content. AI does not "make" the site here. AI works on it.

This distinction sounds like a detail, and it decides everything: the costs, the Google visibility, and whether the site brings enquiries.

The trap of a generated website

We will not pretend generators are evil - we offer such a tool ourselves, as a preview of a project. The problem starts when a generated sketch is sold as the final product. Then three things surface:

  • Shell content. A generator does not know your business, so it writes generalities that fit anyone. And Google, in its official guide to visibility in AI features (May 2026), says it directly: do not recycle content that an AI model could easily produce itself. A site made of such content competes with millions of identical ones and loses, also in results read by AI.
  • A look like everyone else's. Templates assembled from the same blocks produce sites your customer has already seen ten times. Trust is hard to earn when a business looks like every other.
  • A foundation outside your control. Speed, technical SEO, portability and room to grow depend on the wizard's platform, not on you. When the business grows, the walls arrive fast.

So treat a generator like a pencil sketch: great for seeing the direction before the proper project is built. That is exactly how we use it on our AI websites page.

AI integrations that really work

The real value of AI on a business website is work measured in hours and enquiries, not a "wow" effect. What pays off most often:

  • An AI chat on company knowledge. It answers questions about your services around the clock and collects contact details, also after hours. It is the shortest path from a visitor to an enquiry - we describe it in detail under AI chat for business.
  • Automated enquiry handling. A form submission can be instantly categorised, confirmed and summarised for the owner. The customer gets a response in minutes instead of days, and that often decides who gets the job.
  • AI-supported content, with supervision. AI speeds up writing, but the facts, examples and tone must come from the company. That is how you get content that exists nowhere else - exactly what Google tells you to create.
  • Search and suggestions. On bigger sites and shops AI helps people find the right product or service instead of forcing them to click through categories.

One rule: an integration has to do work. If after a month you see neither saved hours nor enquiries, it was not an integration. It was a gimmick.

How we put it together

Our recipe has been the same for years; only the tools change: a custom website built for a specific business, fast and readable for people, search engines and AI models, and on top of it integrations chosen for real needs, not fashion. One company runs both the site and the AI, so the chat's knowledge, the content and the offer speak with one voice. The full picture is on AI for business.

And honestly: not every business needs AI on its website. A small site with little traffic first needs the foundation: good content, speed and visibility in Google. We add AI when it has something to work on, not "so that it is there".

In short

A website with AI is not a website made by AI. It is a website where AI works: talking, handling, supporting. Treat the generator as a sketch, put the budget into the foundation and into integrations you can measure.
